Raising content into the Cloud

At UCT, teachers and students have been encouraged to collaborate using cloud based apps as well internet applications.  When referring to the term cloud, it defines to mean a virtual drive where everything is stored and can be accessed anywhere.  Students and teachers are using Google Drive,  which functions similarly to a USB flash drive. The work completed in Google Docs, similar to programs in the Microsoft Office Suite, automatically stores in the Google Drive.  Now, there is an option of not carrying around a device that could by chance get lost.

The 10th grade class were given iPads this year, and they were instructed to download  cloud-based apps , such as Evernote and Dropbox.  Evernote is an app students are taking notes with while in class.  Evernote  is also available on a computer where students are able to download it, and still have a copy of their notes.  Dropbox on the other hand is similar to Google Drive where you can store documents, but like Evernote, its available for download on the computer.  As a result, cloud-based technology is preventing worry and panic of loss work.
